Been *another* long time since I have been here to write. I have no excuses to make other than I just didn't get to it. Bad me....
The last three weeks I have had a lot of time on my hands being as it is slow at work ( but beginning to vamp up again which means hell on earth again :) ). So I found a new hobby and one that drives me absolutely nuts at times but I go back and continue it. Making jam . Cooked jam, and freezer jam. I don't know it just gives me pleasure in making something that we can have for those longggg winter months that actually tastes like real fruit. I mean I have bought jarred jam at the grocery store and it is nothing like home made. Of course there is more sugar, more preservatives etc in those jarred jams. I have tasted two of the ones I made and excuse me for saying so but they are much better tasting...
What I have made so far
Rhubarb Strawberry
Rhubarb pineapple
Raspberry and blackberry
Cherry
There are so many more I want to make though such as
Blueberry
Raspberry
Concord Grape (maybe jelly too)
Tomato
Pear
Plum
Christmas jam
Then on to pickles
Beets
Dill
Bread and butter
Other things might be interesting to make is fruit flavored butter like
Apple
Raspberry
Blueberry
All great on pancakes
On my pinterest pages I made *another* board or two or three really. One for cooked and not cooked freezer jams which are the very easiest jams to make, one for cooked jam for pantry and one for pickles (butters, freezing veggies and fruits). Thank goodness for Pinterest and the huge selection of ideas you can get there......
See ya soon(er)
